Joan started her career in elder care 32 years ago after graduating from Boston College, as a Case Manager for a state funded Home Care Agency. The past 10 years Joan has worked as an Aging Life Care Professional for Jewish Family Service of Metrowest, for six years for Jewish Family & Children’s Service, Your Elder Experts, and for two years for LivHome, a professionally led private home care agency. Currently, Joan is the president of Symphony Care Management, LLC. A full-service Care Management and Life Care Planning Company. She has been a member of ALCA since 2013 as an Advanced Professional.
Jennifer Pilcher Warren Ph.D., CMC – Vice President
Ms. Pilcher Warren was awarded her doctoral degree in Gerontology from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Her professional experience has focused primarily on care and housing arrangements for elders with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, including policy and fundraising work for the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern Massachusetts, the Alzheimer’s Association of Utah and the Massachusetts Association of Older Americans. She currently sits on the board of the National Association of Aging Life Care and is the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Aging Life Care. For seven years, Ms. Pilcher Warren was affiliated with Hearthstone Alzheimer Care Assisted Living programs in Massachusetts and New York, where she held a number of management positions. For 8 years, Ms. Pilcher Warren worked both as a Geriatric Care Manager and as the Director of Operations for AZA Care Management of Boston. MA. She currently holds the position of Senior Executive Director of Care Management for Overlook C.A.R.E., a non-profit Care Management practice with offices located in the Greater Boston area.
Annemarie Miner MA, CMC, - Secretary
Annemarie is co-owner of Elder Care Connections in Vermont since 2011. She has spent over 20 years in the healthcare industry helping and supporting elders and their families. She also works with her local Area Agency on Aging and in home care.
Emily Grossman MSW, CMC, - Treasurer
A member of ALCA since 2011, she currently works as a Life Care Manager for Life Care Advocates in Newton, MA. She has over 13 years of experience working with elders in community and facility settings. Emily received her MSW from Boston college, with a clinical concentration in Older Adults and Families. She has served on the ALCA-New England Board of Directors as Co-Treasurer or Treasurer since 2014. In addition, she serves as Consultant to the Combined Jewish Philanthropies Task Force on Jewish Aging in the Boston area and Consultant to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs regarding case management training.
Susan Bernat LICSW
Susan is a graduate of Bucknell University and Colombia University School of Social Work. She works as the Associate Director of Your Elder Experts where she has been a care manager for the past 12 years. She is a member of NASW, ALCA, and a Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager.
Lisa Cheney BSN, RN-BC, CMC
Lisa, founder of Aging Well NWCT, became interested in patient advocacy after a serious injury that left her disabled and in physical rehabilitation for almost 10 years. The endless confusion, roadblocks and misinformation she encountered while trying to navigate the healthcare system in order to find the best plan of care for her, as an individual rather than just another “patient”, left a lasting impression that informs her Nursing/Care Management practice to this day.
She became a Certified Aging Life Care Professional®, Certified Care Manager, earned her Board Certification in Gerontology, and founded Aging Well NWCT with the goal of serving the community by offering this much needed guidance, support, and education.
Kathryn J. Freda MA, CMC, CDP
Kathryn Freda is a Gerontologist, Eldercare Consultant, and owner of Sage Solutions, LLC. Ms. Freda has over 18 years experience helping older adults and their families by optimizing the services and options available to them.
Freda holds a master’s degree in Human Development/gerontology from Saint Joseph College and is a Certified Care Manager (CMC) by the National Academy of Certified Care Managers. She served on the State of Connecticut Commission on Aging for three terms, including two years as Chairperson, and she has completed the Mediation Certificate Program at Quinnipiac University School of Law as well as an advanced Elder/Adult Family Mediation training program.
Jenny Miller MSW, CMC
Jenny is the owner/president of Warwick, Rhode Island’s Senior Care Concepts, a geriatric care management company that provides in-depth care assessments and long-term health care planning and transitions for seniors and their families, additionally acting as a liaison between health care professionals, seniors and their families.
Jenny is a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, and the National and Rhode Island Associations of Social Workers. She is a member and Secretary of the Rotary Club of Metro Providence and currently serving on the Board of Trustees for the East Greenwich Public Library and Center for Resilience. Jenny was recently elected to serve on the Board of the Corporators of Wheelock College. Jenny is a past member of the RI Alzheimer's Association Board and Past President of the Rotary Club of Providence. Jenny is a 1997 graduate of Wheelock College and subsequently received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston University in 1998 and is a Certified Case Manager.

Co-chair of our Membership Committee, along with Carolyn Brennan-Alley, Joan has over 25 years of professional social work experience in homecare, acute care, family services, and rehabilitation. Currently in private practice, Joan is the owner of Joan Garbow and Associates and works with clients throughout Fairfield County, CT.
Carolyn Brennan-Alley LICSW,CMC
Co-chair of Membership with Joan Garbow, She is a solo practitioner in Bucksport, Maine. Working as a social worker since 1985, Carolyn is a member of NASW, and ALCA. She founded Brennan-Alley and Associates in 2006. Carolyn served on the Board of Directors for Hospice of Hancock County and Volunteers with numerous community organizations.
Marie LeBlanc BA, MBA
Chair of Public Relations and Technology, Marie is owner of Transitions Liquidation Services in MA, a senior move management and downsizing specialist. Marie operates out of greater Boston and Cape/Islands. She has been a Corporate Member of ALCA NE for 15 years and has served on numerous committees for over 10 years.
Sandy DeLuca BSN, RN
A new member of our Board and looks forward to working for ALCA NE, Sandy is the Clinical Team Leader and a Care Manager for Overlook, CARE. She brings 9 years of experience as a CM and practices mainly on the South Shore of MA.
Frank Baskin MS, CCM, PhD
Frank has chaired our Public Policy for many years and keeps the Board current on both National and local issues as it relates to our clients and communities. Frank practices out of Lowell, MA.
Harriet Lazarus MSW, LICSW, C-ASWCM
Our Program chair, Harriet Lazarus, has been a member of ALCA NE since 2013. Since 2011, Harriet has worked at Your Elder Experts in Waltham MA. In the past, she worked in acute care, mental health and rehab. She is a trained mediator as well as a care manager.
Rebecca Wild-Wesley BSN, MA, RN, CMC - Immediate Past Presisdent
Rebecca is a gerontologist and nurse care manager based in Hopedale, MA. Her company, The Aging Space Inc.® opened in 2013. She has been a member of ALCA since 2013, and has served on the Board as Secretary, Vice President and 2017 President. She will chair Nominations and assume further duties under the guidance of the President.
